Anime song of the day! "Dive into the 9" from the OST of DtB season 2.
While this isn't my favourite track on the OST, it really embodies the energy and grit of the new season of DtB. It's upbeat, got a catchy rock riff and is seeped in just the right amount of grunge! Yasushi Ishii is a fantastic composer, and his contribution to DtBII shows a great evolution on his Hellsing soundtracks. I actually thought this OST beat Yoko Kanno's for the first season!!
Cascade - Sexy Sexy
Man, I totally forgot about this song until it came up when I was listening to a MOGRA show (anison index 10)! This is the ending theme to the anime 'Ghost Stories' from way back in 2000, but this song has definitely stood the test of time!
Really catchy, and the video is pretty cool too!
"Yakusoku no basho e" by Chihiro Yonekura
My theme song for today!! This is a catchy track by itself, but for me it packs an extra punch, inciting fond memories of Kaleido Star! But even without the nostalgia icing, this is a great anison!
Hoshizora no Spica by Tamura Yukari
This is one of those forgotten gems I recently rediscovered. Because I didn't enjoy StrikerS, this ED was relegated to the deepest nether-realms of my memory. But it's a really good song. Has a catchy, grabbing chorus and a spice of spanish guitar!
Not strictly an anime song, but it was an insert in an anime! This song played in the final episode of Eureka 7, over what can only be described as an epic climax. One of the most memorable uses of music in anime (but there are quite a few memorable moments!). Even if you've never seen Eureka 7, this is a fantastic song, and I recommend everyone try it out. It's done by an electronic/dance group, Denki Groove, who I really like in general.
This track seems simply but it really builds into a sense of catharsis.
A big anime-song special will be coming to NHK, BS-2 on the 14th of August! Titled:
「萌える!泣ける!燃える ゼロ年代 珠玉のアニメソングスペシャル」
Which I was going to translate before realising it would sound ridiculous. Anison specials are definitely relevant to my interestes!
Guess I didn't quite appreciate the greatness of this song back when I was watching the anime, but when I listened to the full song again after such a long break it hits me full force! Definitely one of the best, fast, high-energy anime songs you'll find. Must...not...dance! Had it on repeat for a while now.
You know what's gonna be awesome? Seeing fripSide perform this live in a few months at the Animelo concert!! Of course, I'll only see the DVD :\
"Tell the chef, the beer is on me."
"Basically the price of a night on the town!"
"I'd love to help kickstart continued development! And 0 EUR/month really does make fiscal sense too... maybe I'll even get a shirt?" (there will be limited edition shirts for two and other goodies for each supporter as soon as we sold the 200)
